It is only the second time, after 2022, that Atlètic Club d'Escaldes have won the cup, while losing finalists FC Santa Coloma were targeting an 11th crown.

We returned to the Estadi de la FAF in Encamp on 24 May for FC Andorra's final home game of the season against AD Ceuta - two Sweeper favourites.

As the last remaining micro-state that we had not visited, landlocked Andorra had been on our agenda for some time. We eventually made it in May 2026 and found a vibrant, colourful and vibrant little country full of stunning nature, friendly people and - most importantly - entertaining football.

We had two very different live matches planned for our time in Andorra - both of which took place at the 5,108-capacity Estadi de la FAF in Encamp, which is around a 15-minute taxi ride from Andorra La Vella, where we were based.

The first match was the final of the 2026 Copa Constitució, the main national cup competition in Andorra. FC Santa Coloma, the 10-time winners of the competition, were up against Atlètic Club d'Escaldes, whose only previous triumph had come in 2022. A pulsating match ended up in a 3-2 victory for Atlètic Club d'Escaldes, who booked their place in the UEFA Conference League qualifying rounds as a result. However, it was to be their local rivals Inter Club d’Escaldes who would become Andorra’s first-ever continental representative in a European league/group phase later that summer.

The following day, we were back at the same ground - though this time behind the far goal - for the penultimate matchday of LaLiga2, Spain’s second tier. FC Andorra, the only foreign club to play in the Spanish system, were up against AD Ceuta, the team based in an exclave in continental Africa. It was exactly the kind of geographically quirky match-up that we love at Sweeper HQ. FC Andorra suffered a 2-0 defeat, as owner Gerard Piqué - the scourge of referees in these parts - watched on in dismay.
