Back in the pre-Sweeper days, we went to Germany for a midweek DFB-Pokal trip in February 2019.

The first stop was the legendary Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund, where Borussia were taking on Werder Bremen in the round of 16. A frantic match ended 3-3, before the visitors emerged victorious in a penalty shootout.

Also on the agenda in Dortmund was a trip to the German Football Museum. Packed with interesting insights and exhibitions, we whiled away some happy hours nerding out on German football history before travelling across country to Berlin.

In the capital we attended another last 16 tie between Hertha Berlin and Bayern Munich at the Olympiastadion. That game also went to extra-time, with the Bavarians eventually coming out on top and securing a 3-2 win.
