We did not plan a trip to Serbia’s capital Belgrade in August 2022 with football in mind - but when you’re in town and a UEFA Europa League qualifier is taking place, it’d be rude not to go!

So we headed down to Partizan Stadium for the game against Cypriots AEK Larnaca, who followed up their 2-1 win in the first leg a week earlier with a 2-2 draw to eliminate their Serbian hosts and send the home fans into a state of fury.

It was a real pleasure to meet Serbian football journalist Nebojša Marković while in Belgrade. Nebojša joined us at the game and also met us for a coffee in town beforehand to talk all things Serbian football and tell us all about his home city.
